vul·ner·a·bil·i·ty

noun
  1. the quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally.

At the start of each New Year, I like to select a word as a focus. This year, I chose the word: vulnerability. I realized through a lot of self-reflection that this was an area where I tend to mask myself. I resolved to allow myself to be more forthcoming, and in return: more vulnerable.

In this practice I’m realizing more than ever the beauty and power of human connection.

So why vulnerability?

Vulnerability can be a valuable tool in connecting and relating to one another.

We are so diverse on this small planet, yet so similar.
We all want love.

We all want to be joyous and healthy.

When tough times arise (though we all wish they wouldn’t) it’s that human connection that really supports us.

So here we are, in the month of June, and I am continuing to practice the act of vulnerability by sharing my experiences and passions with you. Passions that include: making art, laughing with friends, dancing away awkward situations (and the laundry list of hobbies that let’s be real: I am good at, but not great at.)

Why is it so hard to be vulnerable for so many of us? Because self doubt is a bitch! That’s why.

We are sharing this snapshot of time. Let’s celebrate our joys, and learn from our falls.

Who knows? Maybe you’ll relate? Maybe you’ll be entertained – inspired even? Or, maybe you will simply think to yourself “how the fuck did I end up on this page?”

Whichever way, I hope you enjoy it.
